Zenilda Cardozo works at the intersection between art and science in different artistic modalities, such as drawing, object and installation. Her research problematizes body issues and the construction of the subject, its relationships with oneself and with the other, as well as the impact of its decisions in the world. Since 2008, she has been working with artistic actions inviting the spectator to take a position on the presented theme and, in some cases, to participate in the construction of the work.
The artist uses copper wire and weft, especially crochet, as central elements of her work. In addition to conventional materials and techniques of art, she also uses trims from the craftwork that populated her childhood and discarded elements, such as plastic packaging, drawing attention to environmental issues and the connections between art and life, between the being and nature.
Born in Tupanciretã/RS, in 1971, she lives and works in Porto Alegre/RS, since 2000. She is part of the groups EntreLínguas and Arquipélago based in Pelotas/RS, with which she has held exhibitions in Brasil and abroad.
